19 of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial title for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the US Open.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard court from spring of the previous year.
The win also indicates he has won twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.
"It's the first time I'm at a tournament with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.
"This victory is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event in the past months.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.
Yet the player has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, supported by an enhanced serve.
The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the concluding five points to go ahead.
Both players swapped break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a third set.
He defended 4 early chances in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to that score to serve for the match.
Suitably, he clinched the win with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
