Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they announced in a statement.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located many other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police report initial examinations suggest the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the event," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the community for details.
An important representative stated the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be solved quickly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of foreign heritage in 2020.
